You will be contacted by the Visa Application Centre (VAC) when your passport is ready for collection. Do not attend the VAC until you have been invited to do so.

Select a country to provide your biometrics

At the end of this application, you will be required to provide your biometrics (fingerprints and facial photograph). This may involve attending a visa application center (VAC) operated by one of our commercial partners.

We need to know which commercial partner will manage your biometrics appointment. This is so we can transfer you to the correct website after you have submitted your visa application.

Enter the country where you would like to provide your biometrics. This will usually be the country you are in now. If there is no VAC or VFS in your selected country, you will be able to choose an alternative location.

If you believe you are unable to provide your biometrics at any location, you should still choose a location. You will then be told how to proceed.

Before applying for a work visa , you must have received an employment offer from the UK

If your application is successful, there will be conditions on your visa or leave to remain. This will include, for example, whether you are able to work in the UK.

You cannot get free medical treatment from the NHS, unless you are exempt from charges. If you do not pay for any billed treatment this may affect future visa applications.

You or your family members are not entitled to receive state-funded education whilst in the UK (except for children of academics visiting the UK for 12 months).

You should leave the UK when your visa ends. If not, you may be removed and banned from the UK.

Choose the length of your Work visa

A Work visa is normally issued for up to 6 months, but some work visa types offer longer options. The work visa lengths you are eligible for are listed below.

Long-term work visas allow you to make multiple visits to the UK, but you can normally only stay in the UK for up to 6 months at a time, with some exceptions for academics and their dependant, and people visiting for private medical treatment.
